Lauren Gaffney

Deputy General Counsel, Principal

Lauren Gaffney is Deputy General Counsel for the CrossBoundary Group. She also leads CrossBoundary’s Accra and Dakar offices and commercially supports the Group’s Power & Infrastructure advisory practice as Head of West & Central Africa. She holds a juris doctorate from Georgetown University Law Center, a Master’s in International Affairs from the Graduate Institute of International and Development studies in Geneva, and a Bachelor’s in International Relations and Philosophy from Wellesley College. Ms. Gaffney has 11+ years of experience in power, infrastructure, international affairs, and development. She has specialized in the practice of law as a tool to positively impact the expansion of clean energy, critical infrastructure, and positive climate and human impacts. Before joining CrossBoundary, Lauren was Assistant General Counsel at TerraForm Power. While there, she led international M&A and project financing, as well as legal asset management of the company’s entire renewable fleet. Prior to TerraForm, Ms. Gaffney was an Energy & Infrastructure Projects associate attorney at Skadden Arps in London and D.C., where she advised on numerous transactions in emerging and frontier markets. She has also previously lived and worked in a humanitarian and development capacity across East Africa, Sri Lanka, and Malaysia and for Africa Humanitarian Action, the U.S. Department of State, UNHCR, and the World Bank Group.
