Teddy Onserio

Africa Investment Advisor, East Africa

Teddy holds a MicroMasters in Data, Economics, and Development Policy from MIT and Bachelor’s in Economics from Williams College. Prior to joining CrossBoundary, Teddy was an investment professional at the Soros Economic Development Fund, the Impact Investing arm of the Open Society Foundations. He worked on strategy design and implementation on investing in Agribusinesses in Sub-Saharan Africa and his investing role included sourcing, underwriting, and monitoring various direct and indirect investments. Teddy also worked as a Leveraged Finance banker at JP Morgan in New York where he focused on high yield bond and leverage loan originations for clients in the natural resources, homebuilding, consumer, and retail sectors. Teddy serves on the board of Nyanam Widows Rising, an organization that empowers widows to tackle oppressive cultural, economic, and social practices that undermine their dignity and limit their agency. He is also the founder and board chairperson of Haba Capital, a syndicate of young professionals that invest money and expertise in African SMEs. Teddy is based in CrossBoundary’s Nairobi office.
