SunCulture is the market leader in affordable solar-powered water, irrigation, and energy management systems for smallholder farmers across Sub-Saharan Africa.
We supported SunCulture on their US$14M Series A equity raise, led by existing investors, EDF International, and Energy Access Ventures and which also included an investment from the Acumen Resilient Agriculture Fund (ARAF). As transaction advisors under the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Kenya Investment Mechanism, our role was to analyze the market opportunity and competitive landscape in support of SunCulture’s continued expansion in Kenya to support smallholder farmer livelihoods and improve climate resilience.
Over the next three years, SunCulture will scale pump production (to over 50,000 units per annum), expand their East Africa operations and roll out in West Africa. SunCulture is also growing its range of pay-as-you-go solutions. In line with this, SunCulture will expand its engineering, industrial design, product management, software development, and data science teams, providing 21st Century jobs to young Africans.
